Logan Sugarman
Founder and CEO of Refresh
Logan Sugarman is an accomplished entrepreneur, investor, and builder, best known as the Founder and CEO of Refresh, a pioneering HR technology platform transforming how modern workforces experience their workplaces. With over twenty years of experience spanning Wall Street, climate technology, and enterprise software, he has consistently developed businesses that connect data, logistics, and human behavior to create a measurable impact.
Founder & CEO of Refresh: A SuperApp for Frontline and Deskless Workforces
Founded in 2007, Refresh is a customizable, all-in-one SuperApp designed to unify every tool, benefit, and communication channel used by global workforces—particularly frontline, deskless, and hybrid teams. Unlike traditional HR systems, the platform personalizes each employee’s experience according to their role, employment type, and location, ensuring that each worker has access to the most relevant resources.
The Problem:
Most corporations provide their employees with hundreds of tools and systems, with HR departments adding an average of 4.2 new applications per month. This complexity is costly, resulting in over $100 billion in HR and IT time spent managing, supporting, and training users. Employees lose approximately $400 billion in value due to low personalization and underutilized tools, while vendors miss nearly $50 billion in potential revenue due to inadequate access and engagement.
Under his leadership, Refresh has become a trusted partner for Fortune 500 companies, national unions, and charitable organizations. The platform now integrates with more than 3,000 HRIS, LMS, payroll, and benefits systems, while offering native modules for wellness, rewards, communications, onboarding, and feedback loops. It simplifies how organizations engage with legacy tools by consolidating everything into a single, unified experience.
In 2025, SHRM selected Refresh as one of only three companies out of more than 500 applicants for its Accelerator Program. This recognition confirmed the platform’s role in shaping the future of workplace wellness and engagement. SHRM also made a significant investment in the company, signaling strong alignment with its mission and technology.
Refresh has also received awards from Accenture through its Global HR Technology Challenge and maintains partnerships with HUB International and UKG.
Co-Founder, Triangle Digital
Logan is also the co-founder of Triangle Digital, Inc., a company advancing the transition to a climate-resilient economy by linking large-scale data directly to financial assets. The platform gathers, standardizes, and analyzes data from diverse sources—such as billing systems and IoT sensors—to support sustainability tracking, benchmarking, and reporting.
Triangle was named Innovation of the Year in Carbon Markets for 2025 by Environmental Finance for its creation of stackable Carbon and Co-Benefit Credits (Water, Biodiversity, PFAs, PM, and UN SDGs) as RWAs, which can be sold as a single package or individually.
The company has issued about $265 million in carbon credits for Dynamic Carbon Credits and Water Energy Forward as regulated financial instruments that can now be held in custody by banks. This innovation supports a shift in the market from a “Buy and Retire” to a “Buy and Bank” model.
Triangle was also the Winner of the Brazil Central Bank Life Data Program for COP30. Its blended finance solution introduced a “Carbon Warrant,” which combines Carbon and Co-Benefit Credits to balance risk between lenders and borrowers.
Co-Founder, Balcony Partners, LLC
Logan also serves as Co-Founder and CIO of Balcony Partners, an SEC-registered investment advisory firm managing $100 million in assets. The firm focuses on volatility-based quantitative strategies and private equity-style investments in clean energy, including residential solar and tax credit optimization.
He is also a sponsor of two Nasdaq-listed SPACs—GSR III and GSR IV. GSR III recently completed a major combination in the energy sector with Terra Innovatum, a company developing micro-modular nuclear systems to expand energy access.
Investments & Advisory Roles
Logan is an active early-stage investor with a portfolio of more than 100 angel investments, including Scale AI, Liquid Death, and venture funds such as Scribble and 776. He also serves as an advisor to startups, including Diameter, helping guide strategic growth and innovation.
Career Foundation: From Technology to Wall Street and Back
Logan began his career at Accenture as a Technology Strategy Consultant, where he led teams designing data-driven CRM systems for E-Trade. These systems supported trade processing, account management, and analytical segmentation to drive performance and profitability.
He later held senior management positions at Exis Capital, Kinyan Capital, and Swiss Re, where he was part of a team managing a $1 billion long/short equity portfolio focused on financial and macro strategies. As Co-Portfolio Manager at Midsummer Capital, he helped oversee a $150 million carve-out fund.
Board Memberships, Philanthropy, and Media
Logan is a dedicated supporter of Minnesota Public Radio and Johns Hopkins University, his alma mater, where he endowed a scholarship, chaired the Junior Board (Second Decade Society), and currently serves on the Krieger School Advisory Board. He also supports the JCCA and has chaired the Religious School at his local synagogue, contributing to initiatives in education and entrepreneurship.
Beyond his professional life, he has managed art galleries in Minneapolis (Gallery 13) and New York (Lital Mehr Gallery), promoting emerging artists. He also executive-produced several Lifetime-distributed feature films, including The Secret Life of a Celebrity, The Au Pair Nightmare, A Deadly Price for Her Pretty Face, and Escaping Dad.
Education
Logan attended Johns Hopkins University, earning dual bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Psychology, with minors in Computer Science. His early education took place at St. Paul Academy and Summit School, a private, college-preparatory day school in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
He has been a CFA Charter Holder since 2004 and established a scholarship to support entrepreneurship and innovation.
